Qualification
- BS or higher degree in engineering or a hard science.
- Experience in hands-on technical projects in collegiate or professional settings.
- Proficiency in CAD and ability to produce high-quality engineering drawings.
- Strong understanding of system architecture and design considerations.
- Experience with hardware testing and prototype development.
Responsibility
- Own hardware design from concept generation to launch, including CAD, hand calculations, and prototypes.
- Use first principles for decision-making and seek opportunities to simplify designs.
- Communicate pros and cons of system architecture with a focus on robust design.
- Lead subsystem design reviews and present status to team members.
- Act as the Responsible Engineer for subsystems, running analysis and defining hardware test plans.
- Build prototypes, analyze failures, and transition designs to flight hardware and production.
- Travel to test sites and vendors as needed.
- Create technical documentation including test plans, reports, and engineering drawings.
