Qualification
- Currently pursuing or have obtained a MS or higher degree in engineering or applied physics with a focus on heat transfer and fluid dynamics.
- Experience with thermal design and analysis for aircraft or missiles.
- Proficiency in MATLAB and Python for modeling and analysis.
- Strong understanding of thermal FEA/CFD techniques.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-disciplinary engineering teams.
Responsibility
- Own the thermal design and analysis of a drone, aircraft, or missile.
- Use first principles for decision-making and apply appropriate levels of analysis, including hand calculations and MATLAB/Python models.
- Define thermal architecture to withstand rugged environments and demanding flight envelopes, analyzing edge cases based on industry standards.
- Collaborate with engineers from other disciplines to document power dissipations under various operating modes.
- Communicate the pros and cons of system architecture concerning thermal considerations.
- Manage thermal FEA/CFD models to predict system performance and define design limits for testing and operation.
- Execute prototype builds and tests to verify thermal designs, including CAD work and data analysis.
- Present thermal status at formal reviews and provide updates on timelines and technical status.
- Develop internal tools to enhance analysis effectiveness and efficiency.
- Support failure reviews and root-cause analysis with test data and thermal analysis.
