Qualification
- BS or higher degree in engineering or a hard science.
- Experience in hands-on technical projects, either in collegiate teams or professional settings.
- Proficiency in CAD software and ability to produce high-quality engineering drawings.
- Strong understanding of system architecture and design considerations.
- Ability to communicate effectively and lead design reviews.
Responsibility
- Own hardware design from concept generation to launch, including CAD, hand calculations, and prototypes.
- Use first principles for decision-making and seek opportunities to simplify designs.
- Communicate pros and cons of system architecture regarding design and packaging considerations.
- Lead subsystem design reviews and present status to team members, ensuring clarity on timelines and technical status.
- Act as the Responsible Engineer for subsystems, conducting analysis, vendor visits, and executing hardware test plans.
- Build prototypes, analyze failures, and transition successful designs to flight hardware and low-rate production.
- Travel to test sites and vendors as needed for project execution.
- Create technical documentation including slide packages, test plans, reports, procedures, and engineering drawings.
