Chewy is seeking an Operations Manager for its fulfillment center to lead inbound/outbound operations, drive continuous improvement, and manage a cross-functional team (Area Managers, Operations Leads) in a hands-on, startup-like environment focused on safety, efficiency, and on-time customer shipments.
Qualification
- A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or comparable experience
- 5+ years of management experience in a fulfillment center/warehouse
- Comfortable in a hands-on startup environment and adept at dealing with ambiguity and change
- Experience leading inbound/outbound operations and ensuring timely, accurate order fulfillment with low defects
- Proficiency with a Warehouse Management System (WMS) to optimize fulfillment and extract insights
- Proven ability to mentor, train, and develop Area Managers and supervisors
- Strong planning, forecasting, and data-driven decision-making with KPI focus
- Excellent cross-functional collaboration and relationship-building with hourly associates, managers, carrier partners, vendors, and other FC teams
Responsibility
- Lead inbound/outbound activities for the fulfillment center, including receiving, picking, packing, and shipping across two shifts
- Ensure a safe and healthy work environment for associates on the outbound team
- Direct warehouse supervisory personnel to achieve objectives, including timely order fulfillment, on-time shipments, and low shipment defects
- Monitor and drive KPIs (warehouse misses, on-time shipments, shipment defects, aged tasks, production levels per hour, cost per order line)
- Engage and coordinate with Area Managers and Operations Leads
- Drive planning and forecasting for the facility
- Leverage Area Managers to source ideas and translate them into improvement plans
- Mentor, train, and develop Area Managers for career progression
- Develop and share standard processes across shifts and network
- Build a positive, multi-faceted team culture that motivates change and focuses on customer experience
- Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, cost, and delivery while expanding warehouse capabilities
- Use the site Warehouse Management System (WMS) to optimize order fulfillment and provide operational insights to improve WMS effectiveness
