The Senior IBM z/VM Systems Programmer is responsible for ensuring the stability and efficient operation of z/VM operating systems that support organizational functions and clients. This role involves monitoring, maintaining, and optimizing systems, as well as managing storage, backups, and disaster recovery planning. The position requires collaboration with IT and business units and includes off-hours support as needed.
Qualification
- Minimum of 10 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to upgrade and maintain z/VM using VMSES
- Install/administer z/VM related ISV products (e.g. CA-VM:Manager)
- Working knowledge of managing z/VM security with VM:Secure and RACF is preferred
- Experience with z/VM performance/capacity tuning and reporting
- Experience with installation and implementation of z/VM systems
Responsibility
- Monitor and maintain z/VM operating systems across multiple LPARS and clients
- Manage storage, system backup/restore, tape encryption, and disaster recovery planning
- Support Incident and Change Management processes
- Provide metrics tracking for operational performance and service quality
- Assist Data Center Operations to ensure SLAs are met
- Coordinate system modifications with IT and business unit managers
- Support multiple annual Disaster Recovery exercises across diverse client environments
- Manage software, availability, network, capacity, performance, storage, directory, and security for z/VM systems
