Heron Power is a startup focused on developing innovative power electronics solutions for the modern grid. The Power Electronics Intern will work with experienced engineers on designing and validating medium-voltage power electronics systems, gaining hands-on experience in hardware development and contributing to product initiatives.
Qualification
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering (or a related field).
- Strong understanding of first principles in power electronics.
- Hands-on skills in hardware development and testing.
- Familiarity with modeling and simulation tools like MATLAB/Simulink or PLECS.
- Knowledge of power converter architectures and control systems.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Initiative and eagerness to learn from experienced engineers.
Responsibility
- Support the design and development of power conversion systems.
- Assist in modeling and simulation of power converter topologies and control strategies using MATLAB/Simulink or PLECS.
- Contribute to component selection, circuit design, schematic capture, and hardware bring-up activities.
- Work with senior engineers to characterize switching devices (IGBTs, SiC/GaN MOSFETs) and magnetic components.
- Participate in prototyping and bench testing of converter hardware, including measurement and analysis of key electrical waveforms.
- Support lab testing activities such as thermal profiling, efficiency measurement, and EMC evaluation.
- Document test results and contribute to hardware design reviews and team discussions.
