Homebase is seeking a passionate Software Engineer specializing in Infrastructure and Developer Tooling to enhance their AWS-based infrastructure and improve the internal developer experience. The role focuses on building scalable systems, optimizing workflows, and mentoring junior engineers while fostering a collaborative team environment.
Qualification
- 3+ years of experience in Software Development or Infrastructure Engineering.
- Strong background in infrastructure with experience in AWS and cloud services.
- Familiarity with developer tooling and improving developer experience using data-driven metrics.
- Proficiency with infrastructure as code tools, preferably Terraform.
- Solid understanding of containerized applications and deployment processes.
- Some experience with, or interest in learning Ruby to maintain Ruby-based internal tools.
- Skills to identify and resolve issues using observability tools.
- AI fluency and curiosity about retooling workflows with automation.
Responsibility
- Design, build, and maintain infrastructure and developer tooling for Homebase engineers.
- Lead improvements to internal developer tools to streamline workflows and reduce friction in the software lifecycle.
- Drive optimization of AWS infrastructure for reliability, scalability, and performance.
- Influence infrastructure architecture decisions by evaluating and implementing emerging cloud technologies.
- Serve as a point of contact for infrastructure needs and participate in on-call rotations.
- Mentor junior engineers and collaborate across engineering teams to accelerate impact.
- Experiment with AI-powered observability, automation, and workflow retooling to improve developer velocity.
