Mechanical Engineer
Mariana Minerals
Mechanical Engineer role at Mariana Minerals focused on designing, building, and commissioning mechanical systems for chemical refining pilot and modular commercial-scale plants. The role combines mechanical design leadership with development of first-principles models and software-driven plant optimization, partnering with multidisciplinary EPC teams to deliver end-to-end equipment scopes from concept through handover to operations.
Qualification
- Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals and demonstrated ability to leverage the understanding to solve challenging problems
- Experience preparing and reviewing mechanical equipment specifications, vendor documentation, and engineering deliverables for brownfield modifications and new facilities
- Proven ability to design, evaluate, and integrate solids-handling and material-conveyance systems (silos, bins, hoppers, feeders, conveyors, dust-control) as part of process equipment packages
- Experience developing first-principles based models of refining equipment and processes for plant optimization
- Experience developing site-wide plant layouts and ensuring integration with process, structural, civil, and electrical disciplines
- Experience in pilot-scale and modular commercial plant design, fabrication, installation, and commissioning
- Ability to review vendor drawings and calculations and ensure compliance with codes, standards, and operability/maintainability expectations
- Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary EPC teams and stakeholders
- Willingness to contribute across the project lifecycle—from concept to handover and startup
Responsibility
- Lead mechanical engineering scopes across project phases—from concept and feasibility through detailed design, procurement, fabrication, installation, and commissioning
- Develop site-wide and area-level plant layouts optimizing equipment arrangement, maintainability access, constructability, safety, and integration with other disciplines
- Prepare mechanical equipment specifications, data sheets, and requisition packages for process and solids-handling equipment; support technical bid evaluations and vendor selection
- Design, evaluate, and integrate solids-handling and material-conveyance systems (silos, bins, hoppers, feeders, conveyors, bucket elevators, chutes, dust-control)
- Support development of 3D models and piping/mechanical interface layouts ensuring alignment with process, structural, civil, and electrical requirements
- Review vendor drawings and calculations to ensure mechanical design compliance with project requirements, codes, standards, and operability/maintainability expectations
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary EPC teams—including process, structural, piping, electrical, instrumentation, and construction management—to deliver cohesive and constructible engineering packages
- Provide mechanical engineering support during construction and commissioning, including responding to RFIs, reviewing field changes, and assisting with equipment installation and start-up
- Lead equipment scopes from concept through to design, installation, ramp, and handover to the operations team
