The Systems Engineer role involves collaborating with scientists to develop and implement systems that enhance materials research, ensuring efficient operations and reliable instrumentation.
Qualification
- BS in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, or related engineering field.
- 3+ years of experience in commissioning complex lab, pilot, or manufacturing equipment.
- Comfortable with instrumentation and controls basics, including sensors and data acquisition.
- Hands-on experience with installation and testing of complex lab equipment.
- Excellent documentation and communication skills with vendors and internal teams.
Responsibility
- Partner with physicists, chemists, and materials scientists to translate experiments into system requirements.
- Lead vendor engagements, including scoping work, reviewing designs, and managing schedules.
- Coordinate site preparation and installation with facilities and contractors.
- Plan and execute acceptance testing (FAT/SAT) with vendors, defining criteria and running tests.
- Create runbooks and user training for seamless transition of lab systems to operations.
