The Controls Engineer role involves designing and implementing controls architecture for lab automation, ensuring systems are reliable and efficient.
Qualification
- BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Controls, or equivalent.
- 3+ years of experience in industrial automation for labs, pilot, or manufacturing environments.
- Hands-on experience with PLCs, HMIs, motion control, and industrial networks.
- Experience with safety PLCs, functional safety validation, and lockout/tagout (LOTO) practices.
- Proficiency in scripting for test and diagnostics, preferably in Python.
Responsibility
- Define the controls architecture including states, alarms, naming, and data flows.
- Specify platforms and components such as PLCs, robot controllers, and operator interfaces to meet safety and performance needs.
- Build and execute bring-up plans including I/O checkout and end-to-end workflow trials.
- Design and roll out real-time supervisory dashboards using tools like Ignition.
- Implement observability features such as trending, diagnostics, and alarm rationalization.
