Roblox is seeking an Engineering Manager for their Application Networking team, specifically to lead the Gateway Team responsible for managing traffic infrastructure. The role involves overseeing the migration of their ingress stack and ensuring the reliability of critical systems while mentoring engineers and fostering career growth.
Qualification
- 3+ years of engineering management experience, specifically managing teams responsible for high-scale distributed systems or networking platforms.
- Strong technical background in Layer 7 networking, HTTP/HTTPS, Reverse Proxies (Envoy, NGINX), and API Gateway patterns.
- Experience guiding teams through major architectural migrations (e.g., monolith to microservices, legacy proxy to modern mesh/gateway).
- A track record of hiring and nurturing a high-performing engineering team.
- Excellent communication skills.
Responsibility
- Lead the Gateway team to deliver best-in-class traffic management infrastructure.
- Drive the design and implementation of major 'Moonshot' initiatives.
- Lead the consolidation of the ingress stack (migrating NGINX to Envoy).
- Own the reliability of Tier-0 systems.
- Mentor engineers and team leads, ensuring sustainable on-call rotations and continuous career growth.
