SpaceX is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer for the Machine Design team focused on the Starship project. The role involves designing and building production assets for the Starship launch vehicle, collaborating with various engineering disciplines, and utilizing CAD software for modeling and analysis. The position is based at the Starbase facility in Texas.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline
- Experience with CAD software (e.g., Solidworks, NX, CATIA, ProE)
- 5+ years of experience in designing and analyzing mechanical structures
- 5+ years of technical project management experience (preferred)
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Experience in a collaborative team environment
- Experience in a production facility with machinery
Responsibility
- Design, build, and activate custom machinery and infrastructure for Starship production
- Develop the Starfactory for rapid build and testing of transport architectures
- Collaborate with vehicle engineers to enhance design and manufacturing processes
- Execute structural sizing, mechanism design, and hardware fabrication
- Create detailed models and engineering prints in NX
- Perform engineering calculations and analysis for structures and mechanisms
- Create manufacturing plans for internal teams
- Support machine activation and development testing with engineering teams
