Stratum is seeking a Forward Deployed Machine Learning Engineer to join their Technical Services team. This remote-first position focuses on applying machine learning techniques to improve mining operations, utilizing custom architectures primarily in PyTorch. The role involves both foundational and applied machine learning tasks, with a strong emphasis on communication and collaboration with non-ML stakeholders.
Qualification
- 2+ years of industry machine learning experience.
- Excellent proficiency in custom neural network architectures in Python (PyTorch).
- Hands-on experience with various neural network types.
- Strong foundational knowledge of deep learning, especially transformers, CNNs, and GNNs.
- Strong technical communication skills to convey model effectiveness to non-ML engineers.
Responsibility
- Conduct foundational research to design and implement AI resource modeling techniques for mining operations.
- Apply and refine existing architecture to train resource models for specific mines.
- Communicate model quality, metrics, performance, and methodology to non-ML technical stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities to improve mining operations and gain client support.
- Track performance of deployed models and identify improvements.
