Wander is a rapidly expanding company in the short-term rental industry, seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the technical architecture of their core platform. The role involves collaborating with product, design, and operations teams to enhance developer productivity and improve guest experiences. Ideal candidates will have experience in scaling production systems and mentoring engineers, with a focus on building extensible architectures and ensuring high-quality software delivery.
Qualification
- Experience operating at Staff level or higher for several years.
- Proven success in designing extensible, composable service or plugin architectures.
- Deep experience with TypeScript and Node.js, with a polyglot mindset for choosing appropriate tools.
- Mastery of PostgreSQL or equivalent RDBMS, and familiarity with event-driven patterns like Kafka or NATS.
- Experience with cloud-native infrastructure such as GCP, AWS, or Azure.
Responsibility
- Architect the Platform by defining and evolving the technical north star for various systems.
- Drive clear patterns for service boundaries, observability, testing, and CI/CD.
- Mentor and uplift staff and senior engineers, conducting design reviews and promoting empathetic leadership.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives with product and data teams to design LLM-powered pricing and operational tooling.
- Guide the team through capacity planning, performance tuning, and incident retrospectives as traffic scales.
- Champion developer experience by shaping internal platforms, tooling, and documentation.
