Waymo, an autonomous driving technology company, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for Vehicle Engineering to design and develop custom vehicle structures and components for their autonomous vehicles. The role involves collaboration with OEM partners and internal teams to meet specific requirements and bring designs to production.
Qualification
- Experience in engineering vehicle structures and cosmetic A-Class components
- Approximately 10 years of product design experience
- Successful launch of multiple car platforms from concept to production
- Ability to design to requirements such as stiffness, cost targets, and manufacturing tact time
- Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams
Responsibility
- Engineering custom vehicle structures and trim for Waymo vehicles
- Working closely with OEM partners to define changes to vehicle architecture/components
- Collaborating with internal teams (Styling, Product, System Architecture, Manufacturing, Supply Chain) to engineer solutions
- Interfacing with Tier One suppliers to bring designs to production
- Creating and presenting trade matrices outlining solutions based on weight, cost, and volume
- Developing hardware using various materials and manufacturing technologies
