The role involves leading a team to scale mapping infrastructure, evaluate machine learning models, and build backend systems for map data processing.
Qualification
- Experienced manager and technical leader
- 7 years of total experience, with at least 2 years as a manager
- Proven track record of leading a team to solve complex technical challenges
- Experience with large-scale data processing using frameworks like Google Data Flow or Apache Beam
- Willingness to own problems end-to-end and work on various parts of the system
- A passion for good software engineering
Responsibility
- Lead a team of software engineers to scale mapping infrastructure and transform mapping schema
- Evaluate and launch machine learning models that automatically generate maps from raw data
- Collaborate with onboard teams to evolve Waymo’s mapping format for better automation
- Build backend infrastructure for storing and processing various forms of map data
- Scale systems to support global mapping efforts
