Waymo, an autonomous driving technology company, is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead its Simulation Infrastructure team. The role involves building and managing distributed systems to support the Waymo Driver's simulation-based evaluation, influencing technical direction, and collaborating across teams.
Qualification
- Hands-on experience building large-scale distributed systems.
- Proficient in C++, or a desire to learn C++.
- 2+ years of direct management experience with Software Engineers.
- Demonstrated experience working cross-functionally with Product, Program, Data Science, etc.
- History of data-driven decision-making.
Responsibility
- Lead an Infrastructure team that builds and maintains reliable, highly-scalable, and cost-effective production services for simulation-based evaluation.
- Set the technical vision and direction for the team and influence the broader Infrastructure Organization.
- Manage a team of 3-4 junior and senior Software Engineers.
- Contribute production-grade code, execute code reviews, and drive detailed technical designs.
- Align and define plans for the team while influencing planning and strategy of partners and the larger organization.
