Regulatory Compliance Manager, China at Airwallex. Based in Shanghai, Guangzhou, or Beijing, focused on managing Airwallex's non-bank payment institution licenses in mainland China. Advises on complex regulatory issues, liaises with PRC regulators (PBOC, SAFE), and ensures licensing and regulatory compliance while supporting global regulatory strategy as part of a cross-functional team.
Qualification
- Experience in managing or coordinating licensing for non-bank payment institutions or regulatory compliance in China.
- Strong knowledge of PRC regulatory framework and regulators (PBOC, SAFE) and licensing processes.
- Proven ability to liaise with regulators and prepare regulatory submissions and approvals.
- Experience designing and implementing internal procedures, controls, and compliance programs.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with product, legal, risk, finance, and regional teams.
- Experience supporting regulatory strategy and market entry for financial technology or payments businesses.
- Bachelor’s degree in law, finance, business, or a related field (JD/LLB preferred).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to operate in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment.
Responsibility
- Manage and maintain Airwallex’s non-bank payment institution licenses in mainland China.
- Advise on complex regulatory issues in Mainland China and provide regulatory risk assessments.
- Liaise with PRC regulators (PBOC, SAFE) and other authorities, handling communications and submissions.
- Prepare, file, and maintain regulatory applications, licenses, and related documentation.
- Develop and implement internal procedures, controls, policies, and compliance programs to meet licensing requirements.
- Monitor and interpret PRC regulatory developments affecting China operations and regulatory strategy.
- Collaborate with the global regulatory/legal/compliance teams to align licensing strategies and product launches.
- Support expansion into new markets and product areas by providing regulatory due diligence and risk guidance.
