The Director of Finance at Burkland will lead a team of consultants to oversee financial operations for venture-backed startup clients. This remote-first role focuses on finance transformation, FP&A, cash-flow management, and strategic partnership with clients, ensuring the application of Burkland's methodologies and quality standards.
Qualification
- 8+ years in finance or consulting, with 3+ years as a senior finance executive in high-growth or venture-backed environments.
- Proven ability to step into new organizations quickly, establish trust, and drive immediate impact.
- Thrives in ambiguous environments and proactively finds solutions with limited direction.
- Mastery of monthly close, financial reporting, budgeting & forecasting, and capital-raise modeling.
- Strong understanding of accounting/GAAP principles is preferred.
- Expert user of Excel/Google Sheets; proficiency with BI tools (Tableau, Power BI) and FP&A platforms.
Responsibility
- Own monthly close oversight, board-level reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and investor communications.
- Implement Burkland’s standardized FP&A frameworks, scenario models, dashboard templates, and fundraising toolkits.
- Tailor processes such as revenue recognition, KPI tracking, and cash-runway analysis to each client’s stage and business model.
- Serve as the escalation point for financial risks, advising founders and executive teams on fundraising strategy, pricing optimization, and capital allocation.
- Lead recurring finance 'steering' meetings each month or quarter, developing actionable roadmaps to boost growth and enhance margins.
- Collaborate with Burkland’s internal teams to surface client feedback, refine fractional offerings, and pilot new tools.
- Mentor junior consultants aligned to clients, reviewing deliverables and coaching on best practices.
- Track and report on client success metrics, including fundraising achieved and forecast accuracy improvements.
