This entry-level mechanical engineering position is designed for students pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering. The role involves working under the supervision of a licensed engineer on various projects, including HVAC system design for educational, healthcare, and commercial buildings. The candidate will gain hands-on experience in design, modeling, and project coordination.
Qualification
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering required by hire date.
- Degree from an ABET accredited program preferred.
- Knowledge of advanced heat transfer, solar energy, and fluid dynamics principles for HVAC design.
- Related student internship experience is a plus.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
Responsibility
- Perform uncomplicated designs of ductwork, piping, controls, and equipment selection for HVAC systems under supervision.
- Prepare Building Load Calculations using modeling software with supervisory direction.
- Assist in preparing Energy Models using appropriate software with oversight.
- Contribute to Revit/BIM modeling of HVAC systems and plumbing/fire protection systems during various project phases.
- Assist in coordinating specifications as part of the design team.
- Draft reports for review by senior engineers.
- Review submittals and shop drawings for compliance with contract documents.
- Conduct job site visits to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress.
