The role involves hands-on work in network deployment, collaborating with internal and external teams to ensure performance and reliability in large-scale data center environments.
Qualification
- 7+ years of experience in large-scale datacenter network deployment or structured cabling.
- Deep knowledge of fiber/copper plant design and cabling standards.
- Experience with hyperscale network best practices.
- Strong fieldwork skills and technical judgment for complex installation issues.
- Ability to adapt to changing build conditions and learn new networking technologies.
- Clear communication skills with construction, engineering, and operations teams.
- Willingness to be based onsite during the initial build phase.
Responsibility
- Serve as OpenAI’s technical lead technician during campus build, collaborating on design reviews and installation plans.
- Perform inspections and assist with cable routing/termination on the data-center floor.
- Conduct fiber testing and resolve installation challenges in real time.
- Troubleshoot and optimize cabling routes and equipment turn-up for reliable network operations.
- Contribute to design discussions and peer reviews for structured cabling and network layouts.
- Develop engineering standards and deployment playbooks for future campuses.
- Lead network physical-layer deployment for upcoming OpenAI data center expansions.
