The Structural & Disaster Exposure Engineer role involves expanding structural engineering intelligence to assess building vulnerabilities, collaborating with AI teams, and supporting insurance clients. The position requires a strong background in structural engineering and a passion for integrating AI into engineering practices.
Qualification
- 2–6 years of structural engineering consulting experience, preferably in retrofit design or forensic investigations.
- BS in Civil/Structural Engineering and a PE license required; Master's preferred.
- Deep knowledge of US building codes, permits, and regional construction practices.
- Technical understanding of building failure modes during disasters.
- Excitement for AI developments and a desire to integrate them with structural engineering.
Responsibility
- Analyze building imagery and property documents to create datasets for AI training.
- Collaborate with AI and backend engineering teams to implement structural expertise in products.
- Support customer success by addressing technical questions from insurance clients.
- Define failure modes and vulnerability frameworks for buildings in natural disasters.
- Review and validate AI-generated structural assessments for model accuracy.
