SpaceX is seeking a Sr. Structures Analyst for its vehicle engineering team, which focuses on developing reusable launch vehicles and spacecraft. The role involves creating structural analysis tools, performing structural analysis, and collaborating on design and testing cycles to support space exploration efforts.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, math, or physics discipline.
- 5+ years of professional experience in structural analysis with commercial FEA or multi-physics simulation packages.
- Master’s degree or PhD in an engineering, math, or physics discipline (preferred).
- Proficiency with FEA solvers such as ABAQUS, ANSYS, or Nastran.
- Experience performing structural analysis on primary structures.
Responsibility
- Develop guidance and structural analysis tools for company-wide use and train engineers on these methods.
- Perform structural analysis of primary and secondary structures using finite element modeling and hand calculations.
- Develop load paths and conduct preliminary sizing of structures using metallic and composite materials.
- Collaborate with the team on rapid conceptual design, analysis, and testing cycles, including CAD modeling and FEA modeling.
- Conduct peer reviews of models, analysis, and tests.
