SpaceX is looking for a Turbomachinery Engineer to design and develop turbopumps for the Raptor rocket engine. The role involves leading the design process, conducting aerodynamic and mechanical analysis, and collaborating with various teams to ensure successful integration and performance of turbomachinery systems.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Experience in turbomachinery design and analysis
- Strong understanding of fluid dynamics and mechanical systems
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in CAD software and engineering analysis tools
- Experience with testing and validation of mechanical systems
- Strong problem-solving skills and innovative thinking
Responsibility
- Design, build and test turbopumps for liquid fueled rocket engines and spacecraft systems
- Own critical turbomachinery components and collaborate closely with manufacturing
- Perform hydrodynamic sizing and flowpath design for impellers and diffusers
- Conduct detailed mechanical analysis on turbopump components/systems
- Develop methodologies and tools to determine turbopump performance
- Interface with production teams to translate designs into flight hardware
- Work with teams on system integration to balance risks
- Support component and assembly testing, defining test configurations and reviewing results
