Waymo is seeking a Staff Software Engineer / Technical Lead Manager for its Mapping team, which focuses on creating high-resolution maps to support autonomous driving. The role involves leading a new team, developing strategies for mapping change detection, and building robust backend infrastructure to support Waymo's growth.
Qualification
- Experienced manager excited about leading people and being technical
- Backend engineer with experience in server-side infrastructure and data processing
- Solid coding skills (C++ preferred)
- 7 years of total experience, with at least 2 years as a manager
- Strong sense of ownership and ability to thrive in ambiguity
- Proven track record of leading a team to solve difficult technical challenges
Responsibility
- Lead a new team focused on Field Response infrastructure to enable Waymo’s expansion
- Own the strategy and roadmap for Mapping change detection
- Hire and lead a team of engineers to solve business problems and technical challenges
- Design and build business-critical systems for low latency actions from Waymo’s fleet
- Build robust backend infrastructure and data processing that scales with Waymo’s growth
