The first in-market People Ops hire for Capi in Dakar, leading end-to-end people operations across multiple African markets (Senegal, CIV, Mali, Kenya, Benin, Togo, and more). Build onboarding, payroll, benefits, and compliance processes, shape the employee experience, and scale operations for a fast-growing fintech that enables cross-border payments to suppliers.

Qualification

  • Based in Dakar or willing to relocate, with experience in regional or multi-country People Ops/HR roles, preferably in Africa.
  • Proven track record in onboarding, offboarding, payroll, benefits, and employee relations in a cross-border context.
  • Experience partnering with EOR platforms (e.g., Deel, Rivermate) and navigating multi-jurisdictional employment compliance.
  • Solid knowledge of employment laws and regulatory requirements across multiple African jurisdictions (Senegal, CIV, Mali, Kenya, Benin, Togo, etc.).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate with recruiters, managers, and senior leadership.
  • Fluency in French and English, with comfort operating in both Francophone and Anglophone markets.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to design and implement scalable HR processes and onboarding materials.
  • Familiarity with HRIS/ATS, documentation templates, and best practices for employee experience and operations.

Responsibility

  • Serve as the primary People Ops contact for teams across Senegal, CIV, Mali, Kenya, Benin, Togo, and future markets, supporting the full employee lifecycle.
  • Partner with local HR teams via EOR platforms to ensure compliance with employment laws across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Coordinate local policies (leave, benefits, contracts) with support from the Head of People.
  • Lead onboarding for all hires across West and East Africa, including scheduling, equipment provisioning, orientation, systems access, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with recruiters and managers to ensure new joiners feel supported, informed, and equipped from day one.
  • Maintain consistent onboarding standards across markets (checklists, communication templates, welcome guides).
  • Manage offboarding workflows, exit documentation, and knowledge transfer.
  • Respond to employee questions about payroll, benefits, and leave with clarity and empathy; coordinate with EOR partners Deel and Rivermate.
  • Support health insurance administration, reimbursements, and local statutory requirements.
  • Build scalable People Ops processes and documentation to lay the foundations for multi-country operations.
